My family and I went to Jones Beach when I was a little girl in the 60's and 70's. I can remember when they had roller skating and shuffle board! I love this website!

I have just received some sad news today, The New York Park officials have decided to close the beautiful beach at West End 2. As we all know this beach is the last unspoiled beach you can go to within the Jones Beach State park where you can enjoy nature at its finest and swim safely protected by a group of highly experienced lifeguards. West End 2 also provides us with amazing sunsets and enjoyable walks out to the Jetty. The State could save money in other ways if they tried (like charging rent to the park commissioners and superintendents that live in those 3 nice homes within the park, for a start. They make PLENTY of money, look up those saleries). But to take something as beautiful as WE2 away from the people is an outrage. Also closing is Field 1 and the beautiful East Bath House pool.
Please , if you love the natural beauty of these places speak up and show these people your discontent, maybe they will change their mind and try to do the right thing for their longtime patrons.

The Red Hat Society has taken advantage of the beautiful boardwalk and the nice Bandshell since 2004. Hundreds of us [Women over 50 who wear a Red Hat and purple dress] walk down the boardwalk on the last Sunday in September and then play in the Bandshell. Monther Nature only rained on us once.
